Congratulations, Lindsey!! You won the Flash Soma Showcase Award :) I loved it. It’s so cute. The audience thought so too. They laughed. Wish you could have witnessed it for yourself, but they videotaped it.

  • Chien-ei Yu wrote a new blog post: Counting Down

Wow, it’s almost over.  How time flies especially when you’re working with social media.  I suppose it’d be faster and easier had I had more experience, but am so glad to have  been exposed to all these tools. It’ll certainly help with my DIY marketing and promotion.
This semester started looking really great on paper. Challenging? [...]

  • Chien-ei Yu wrote a new blog post: Second Live?

Who needs a second life when real life is brimming with choices and opportunities?  Perhaps, people need a playground to explore different personas, but wouldn’t it be better to do it first hand?
I feel I wasted my precious time on SL today.  Sorry, I missed the appointments (had a shoot at 1 pm)–maybe that would [...]

  • Chien-ei Yu commented on the blog post My other life is an Avatar

Ha, I tried to add weight on mine (Cy Bohemian) and ended up ripping my jacket and pants like Hulk. I thought the clothes would just expand with me. Then I thought why the heck do I want to add weight! Isn’t this the point? It’s a fantasy or I suppose a visualizing tool. Younger, [...]

  • Chien-ei Yu wrote a new blog post: Unplugged…WHAT! NOW?

3 weeks before finals week. 4 weeks before the end of the Spring 2010 semester. Unplugged? No way. This is how dependent I am to my devices and online services. It’s like driving–difficult if not impossible to do without. Of course, we always have choices, but do I want to change my lifestyle?  Do I [...]

  • Chien-ei Yu wrote a new blog post: cinch and ustream

Cinch was easy. I actually had fun making approximately 15 calls before settling on a final take. Ustream, on the other hand, was challenging because I had to be on camera. Tough. A nightmare for an introvert. It only took me 50+ takes to finally settle (more like compromise) on one–the longest 30 seconds clip [...]

I don’t understand why my cameras (panasonic dvx100 and canon) won’t work with ustream. one of them is listed as compatible too. Looks like I have to borrow a camera from Kenley.

  • Chien-ei Yu wrote a new blog post: Podcast and Vodcast

This assignment took longer than I anticipated. I thought about the content from both the audience and the final project’s perspectives. I wanted to experiment with how to engage an audience in the creative process–for example, letting people be part of casting. I also wanted to experiment with a more personal vodcast to let the [...]

Deciding on a web hosting service… Any recommendations? I registered my domain names with godaddy. Now I’m not too sure about staying with them for web hosting.

  • Chien-ei Yu wrote a new blog post: Introduction to Search Engine Optimization

The five key elements of a web page for search engine optimization (SEO) are:

The page document title – the primary element

The first words in the meta title will be your strongest

I liked how clearly you presented the SEO information. It helped me understand it better, especially the term, long tail of content. I’m still trying to find the all-in-one SEO plugin in my dashboard. It’s good to see yours, so I know to keep looking. Thank you.

Okay, this is probably really dumb, but how do you post on the help site? I joined the group.

Anyway, here’s my question: I got the following message on my dashboard, ”All in One SEO Pack must be configured. Go to the admin page to enable and configure the plugin.
WordPress now has a canonical URL feature, however we recommend using the AIOSEOP advanced canonical URLs functionality we have had for the past year.” What does it mean?

  • Chien-ei Yu wrote a new blog post: Oh which, oh which

Wordpress, blogger, posterous, tumblr, drop.io…. oh which oh which. I’ve overcome some major resistance to blogging just of late. It’s hard to imagine taking this step to actually sign up for a blog of my own. My first thoughts: OMG, I have to update every week if not more (quantity and quality.) Where would I [...]

  • Chien-ei Yu wrote a new blog post: Facing LinkedIn

After some thinking and reading my fellow students’ blogs and some freefalling (ha, ha), I decided to “really” use LinkedIn.  The main reason for my choice is an emotional one. I’ve avoided it for so long and now is time to face it. You see, it’s so hard to review my “career” path or the [...]
