  • mmcdonough wrote a new blog post: Social Media Benefits to Web Sites and Individuals

    Molly blog portrait
This is in part a comment on David’s post about the good and sinister qualities of social media and a post on a great presentation on this subject by a local SEO expert, Jacques Habre. To speak to the former, individuals have long been able [...]

I want to create a brand for my newest pie in the sky: SEO consulting, but I don’t have enough work to associate with the brand yet; I’m fielding calls everyday and writing proposals to potential clients but I’m winging it from just a year of experience with a software company. Add to that the [...]

This should be a great opportunity to get branding wisdom straight from the guru – Apple has always been brilliant at distinguishing its own renegade brand from the other computer makers, even picking up converts along the way. I’ve already printed my ticket and look forward to attending.

Is anybody else reading a William Gibson book for extra credit? I won’t be able to attend the meditation event. His book Pattern Recognition looks really good and he’s considered a master of scifi, from what I’ve read. Let me know if you will read this book or another by him, too, and we can [...]

    Hi Whitni,
Thanks for your friend request. Sorry it took me so long to respond. I’m a volunteer at a gazillion nonprofits aside from work, and this is a busy season. Now I’m just coming up for air between volunteer shifts at the SB Film Festival that lasts all week. I look forward to getting [...]

    Hi Esther,
Now that we’re friends and I’m coming up for air a gulp at a time from the SB Film Festival, I’d like to get to know you better. I see from your profile that you are a graphic artist – so am I, among other things. I’d love to learn more about you. [...]

    Hi Alicia,
Since we’re friends, I thought it would be a good idea to get to know each other better. Why are you in this class, what’s your story? I’d love to hear it.

It’s funny, I’m involved in a lot of nonprofits, but don’t blog on them. The five I am most passionate about and will now blog on, since I have discovered I can, are: 1. moveon.org 2. oceana.org 3. rfbd.org 4. nrdc.org 5. natureconservancy.org
I encourage everyone to check out these worthy organizations that support everything from [...]

I have been swallowed by volunteering at the SB Film Festival this year. I am a huge film buff, literally learning how many times Clark Gable was married from my mother before my father could grab the 5 of us and teach us our multiplication tables. It’s a great festival with new and classic films [...]

  • mmcdonough posted a new status update:

The best part of working with businesspeople on their web sites is listening to their stories; stories of how they started, their sacrifices, their dreams, their missteps, their routines that left little room for something as scary sounding as search engine marketing and Google Analytics. Gradually our conversations turn to how they can take the reins of their web sites, once everything is set up for them. The payoff is the phone call or email shouting their excitement at getting more new business than they ever imagined. It’s not the money, it’s the reward of helping somebody cross the street – except in this case, it’s the superhighway. That’s what I’m in this for. Adding social networking to the package will only make this better for everyone. I can’t wait.

Successful businesses rely on social media and networking to drive traffic to their web sites and get ROI. I aim to help businesses achieve their objectives with my experience as an SEO/SEM web content publisher, art director, copywriter and photographer with 25 years in advertising and marketing. Businesspeople who knew nothing about how to turn their web sites into a driving force fueling their bottom line watched as I pumped their sites’ page rank to page one in search engines. This was done using only SEO methods – not social media and networking. The addition of social networking will help businesses succeed faster and maintain their success.

My name is Molly McDonough. I’m a copywriter, photographer and designer who pulls one or more of those gigs out of my hat depending on the job. I even do windows. I live in Santa Barbara again, and finally this time, because I can swim in the ocean without wearing a wetsuit. I’m beginning an [...]

I have never created my own blog. I blog on Facebook and LinkedIn. My Facebook page is for social blogging and my LinkedIn page for business networking. Looking forward to creating my own blog to generate buzz around a business I’m developing.
