Welcome

This course looks at the use and creation of media content as it relates to Social Networking in media- related fields and professions. Through a variety of social networking and applications, students learn about how the creation of media content helps to establish network communities of shared interests for professional media designers/producers. Includes online applications –Wikis, Youtube, Vimeo, Flickr, Myspace, Facebook, Digg, etc., and their use across media-oriented platforms.

Objectives

Upon completion of this course, the student will:

  1. Identify and employ various media types via social networks, applications and software.
  2. Employ multimedia applications, design and production skills to create profiles and content.
  3. Create and distribute original media via social networks, applications and software.
  4. Describe and apply the various methods of creating social profiles and contextualize media content as it relates to that profile.
  5. Utilize multiple applications and methods to communicate to or create media related groups and share information and content.
  6. Formulate more effective online communications methods to create connections to people, organizations and groups in media related fields.
  7. Describe how social networking and social media is used in various entertainment media related fields.
  8. Develop a plan of self or group promotion to media organizations.
